John 15:9 (New International Version)
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

PASTOR’S COMMENTARY

Earlier in chapter 3, verse 16, the Gospel writer John tells his readers the depth of God’s love for us. In this verse, John tells them that that same profound love was displayed by Jesus.

God's love for us was so deep that He gave us His only Son to die in our place. Jesus loved us so much that He was willing to suffer the agony in Gethsemane and the pain of the cross to become the sacrifice for our sins.

God’s Word for today challenges us to respond to the love of the Father and the Son. The word “remain” means to dwell. It implies to live in. When we live in the love of the LORD, we reside in an atmosphere of hope. The dark shadows of negative thoughts and attitudes slowly fade in the light of Jesus’ love.

So, if you sometimes get depressed about all the stuff that is going on in your life, remember this. The death of your Fridays will always give way to the Resurrection on your Sundays.

Jesus’ love knows no limits. It is so high, so low, and so wide that nothing… You fill in the blank.
