Depiction of Nebuchadnezzar's golden statue from Daniel 3.

Daniel 3:18 (NLT)
18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

PASTOR’S COMMENTARY

This verse was penned in the midst of one of the most significant biblical examples of faith. Three Hebrew young men, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, whose names were changed to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, faced a crisis. They had a choice to compromise their faith and bow down to the golden idol of Nebuchadnezzar or be thrown into a fiery furnace.

They were certain that their God had the power to deliver them, but if He did not, they were willing to die for their faith. But God stepped in (literally) in the midst of their crisis. Not only were they delivered; they were also promoted (v.30).

This passage gives us the confidence to stand fast and remain faithful in the midst of COVID-19, believing that Jesus is with us. He will not only deliver us, but He will also elevate us.
