Deuteronomy 6:5–6 (ESV)
5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.

PASTOR’S COMMENTARY

These words are part of what was called in ancient Israel the “Shema.” The word means “hear,” and implies to listen intently, because what follows is of the utmost importance. The Shema was repeated every morning by members of the Jewish Nation. But over time these “important” words became no more that just that - WORDS. But this was not a suggestion; it was a command. We are called to love God with everything we have, everything we are and with everything within us.
