Its In The Word
As Christians, we should not be surprised about the increase in violence. Nor should we be shocked by the occurence of extreme weather phenomena worldwide. Even the governmental politicking that shows more concern for personal power than people they were elected to serve, has been prophesied by the Word of God.
The Bible is full of statements that speak to our "latter day" times. Yes, we should be concerned, but we should not be troubled! Being a "student" of the Word and not an average "reader" of the Word (most who claim to be Christians are neither), will cause us to view every catastrophic event in the light of prophesy. This will give us a sense of peace and remind us of God's sovereignty.
It is one thing to be in a Bible believing church, but another thing to be a part of a Bible teaching church. The Word of God is not designed to make us feel good. Transformation is its main purpose. The change that transformation brings is a life-long process.
Jesus said, if you abide in Me AND my WORDS abide in you (John 15:7), to illustrate the importance of being in the Word. Everything that is happening in our world today is in the Word. The question is, is the Word in you?
