Romans 5:5 NKJV (New King James Version)
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
The title of last Wednesday’s Adult Class Faith Development lesson was “Disappointment: When Your Dreams Die.” One definition of the word disappointment was:
“the unhappiness or discouragement that results when your hopes or expectations have not been satisfied...”
Whether it’s people, circumstances, or situations, all of us have experienced disappointment at some point in our lives. When we don’t get what we expected or get what we did not expect, we can lose hope.
But God’s Word for today reminds us that our hope in Jesus will not disappoint us. He is forever faithful, and His promises are true and sure. So, no matter how dark it may look in the present, we can expect a brighter future. Therefore, we can sing with joy, “Our Hope Is Built On Nothing Less Than Jesus’ Blood And Righteousness.”
