Proverbs 15:22 KJV (King James Version)
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: But in the multitude of counsellers they are established.
During Wednesday evening's Faith Development Bible Study, there was a lively discussion about our topic of "disappointments." As I listened, this thought came to me. “Life without purpose is no life at all.” Disappointment not only can cause us to lose hope but has the potential to cause us to also forget our purpose.
Most modern Bible versions translate the word “purpose” as “plan”. As stated in Jeremiah 29:11, God has a plan for us. The idea in the original language is a series of steps to be carried out or goals to be accomplished.
Managing Our Emotions of disappointments can be greatly enhanced with the aid of counselors. The wisdom spoken by King Solomon agrees with God's Word for today. Counselors are not confined to professionals with degrees. The word means one who speaks and urges certain directions or actions, or thoughts. It implies wise and valuable guidance. Hence a counselor can be anyone who has care and concern for another.
So, if you feel as if you don’t have a purpose, you may be a candidate to be a counselee. But remember, God will use your situation to prepare you to be a counselor.
