1 Corinthians 15:58 NASB (New American Standard Bible)

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

Pastor's Commentary

The Scripture reading from Our Daily Bread Devotional yesterday describes the darkness of the unsaved human heart (Ephesian 4:18-19). It mentioned the loss of all sensitivity to the things of God. The subtle demonic influence has been quite successful in accepting what the Bible calls evil as normal. We are flooded daily with TV shows, local and national news, commercials, and social media posts depicting a society gone wild.

An article in the Christian Post cited several incidences of what is called “secular intolerance.” This is another satanic strategy designed to censor those Christians who are not afraid to speak out. However, because of the threats of being passed over for advancement or the loss of employment, many Christians are choosing to opt for self-censorship.

In God’s Word for today, the Apostle Paul encouraged his readers and us not to give up. With the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can stand fast and be anchored firmly in the LORD’s work. Our resolve to continue to speak the truth will prevail, and it is not in vain. Christ won the victory, and He has given us the keys to the kingdom (Matthew 16:19).
