A Matter of Viewpoint
It's that time of year again – The Christmas Season!
For many people this is a time of stress, anxiety, frustration and disappointment. For others, it is a time of bliss, wonder and thankfulness. It all depends on your viewpoint of Christmas. Even strong Christians can get caught up in the “hoopla” and commercialism. Yet, Christ called for us to be the light of the world.
Years ago, salvation changed my viewpoint of Christmas. Unfortunately, I went to the extreme and stopped celebrating at all. Over time I came to realize that the “wrongs” of the season must be confronted with the “right.”
For the Wilcoxson household, our decorations and celebration must somehow, in some way, reflect the Savior’s birth. In our front yard we have a white Cross with a wreath fashioned as a crown of thorns. While some of our neighbors’ yards have non-Christ stuff, they know where we stand. They clearly see our viewpoint.
