Luke 12:6-7 (English Standard Version)
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.

These words of Jesus should give comfort to all those who feel unloved and forgotten. Jesus knows us more intimately than we know ourselves.

Have you ever thought about how many hairs are on your head? Or even considered counting the ones that you have lost? The answer is probably no. But God’s knowledge of us is so profound that He knows. And if He knows those minor details, it stands to reason He knows whatever we need.

In the previous verses, Jesus told His listeners they had no need to fear what man could do to them. He wanted to reassure them that God will take care of His children. Sparrows are one of the smallest birds, and they were of little value in Jesus' day. So, if God cares for them, how much more does He care for us whom He values more.

So, when those self-pity, low moments of life begin to overcome us, we can remember Jesus’ comforting sayings in God’s Word for today. In His eyes, you are worth more than you can imagine. His eyes are on the sparrows, and we know He watches us.
