Deuteronomy 30:5 NLT (New Living Translation)
The LORD your God will return you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will possess that land again. Then He will make you even more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors!
Moses’ last message to God’s people was just before a change in their history. There would be a change in leadership, territory, and mission. It is easy to imagine the emotions of doubt, fear, and uncertainty they experienced. But not only would things change, but many things would be new for this new generation. They never had to grow or plant food, buy shoes, or build houses.
During the 40-year wandering in the wilderness, all but two of the older generation had died. So, they no longer had elderly wisdom to teach them life’s “how to.” They heard the stories, but they were just that - stories. In God’s Word for today, Moses encouraged them by saying God would be all they needed for success. The reality of their future destiny would far exceed the glory of the past stories.
The same will be true concerning the future of our church. Things will be changing soon, and there will be new ways of ministries. But our LORD will make our church more prosperous than ever before. So be encouraged.
