1 Peter 2:15–16 ESV (English Standard Version)

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.  Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.

Pastor's Commentary

As Christians, we should never dilute the concept of grace. Jesus died to set us free from the condemnation of sins of the past, present, and future. Yet, we should be careful of abusing our liberty to live a life that satisfies our flesh. Grace is not cheap because the price paid for it was too high.

God’s Word for today reminds us that the world is watching us. When we follow the ways of the world, it discredits our Savior. But when we follow the leading of the indwelling Holy Spirit, it brings glory to Him.

Most of us have heard the phrase, “and they are supposed to be a Christian,” from those who do not understand grace. But we can put their ignorant, foolish accusation to flight if we constantly keep in mind that we are servants of God.
