Genesis 50:20 NKJV (New King James Version)
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
Joseph's life was one of abandonment, betrayal, false accusation, imprisonment, and being forgotten. But one phrase sticks out in the story of his life, “The LORD was with Joseph.” This may seem strange, knowing that the LORD is full of compassion and mercy.
Sometimes in our life, bad things happen to us due to no fault of our own. It helps to remember that the LORD is an ever-present God with us during those difficult times. Yes, Joseph’s early years were difficult, but God had a plan and a purpose for his hardship. Speaking to his blood brothers, who sold him into slavery, Joseph explained that God used their evil actions for something good.
Join me this morning to hear of another individual who experienced tragedy and hardship. But like Joseph, God was working something for good. It will be an honor, privilege, and pleasure to share God’s Word with you.
