Job 13:15 KJV (King James Version)
Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him: But I will maintain mine own ways before him.
If anyone had a reason to feel like they were unjustly treated, it was Job. He had experienced a personal loss of children, financial loss of property, and physical loss of health. Yet, job knew that the Almighty God had sovereign control of all things and concluded that his calamity was from Him.
In God’s Word for today, the Hebrew word “yet” is profound. It is difficult to put what it means in English, but it implies an unwavering determination regardless of what has happened in the past or what may happen in the future. Likewise, the word “trust” can be rendered as a cause to have hope based upon a relationship. Job’s relationship with God was so strong that nothing could shake his faith.
This year may not have gone the way we planned. We have faced some issues beyond our control. But God has not forsaken us. And since we are still alive, let’s have a “yet trust” spirit as we venture into a new day.
