Colossians 2:6–7 ESV (English Standard Version)

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Pastor's Commentary

Giving thanks comes naturally when we recognize that God is the source of everything we have. This revelation is the result of sound biblical teaching. To be rooted implies doing what is necessary to cause growth. When we get God’s Word deep down in our spirit, it takes root in our soul and causes us to increase in the knowledge of who God is. This is what is implied by the statement “built up in Him.”

He is a healer, provider, sustainer, and Savior. To “walk in Him” means to live as if we know who He is to us. When we learn to do this, thankfulness will overflow into all areas of our life. This is what is meant by the words “abounding in thanksgiving.”

So, during your celebration, tomorrow, keep your focus on the LORD, and thanksgiving will flood your life and your home.
