1 Peter 1:3 ESV (English Standard Version)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Pastor's Commentary

This morning our church family will participate in the ordinance of the church known by most as “Communion.” Also, called the LORD’s Supper, it was instituted by Jesus on the night of His arrest, which eventually led to His death. The Apostle Peter was a witness to them both.

Writing to the persecuted church throughout Asia-minor, Peter reminds his readers of the blessing of Jesus' resurrection. Those who believe the good news are born again to a new hope. One Gospel singer and songwriter sings of his “Born Again” experience.

“The Preacher Told Me The Good Good News. And Every Since My Heart Met YOU, Born Again, Soul Set Free, Ain’t No Grave Gotta Hold On Me, Born Again, Wash In The Water I’m Clean.”

Join me this morning as we share the attributes of the Good Shepherd who set us free and how they relate to those called to feed the flock of God.
