Colossians 3:14 CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
Today millions of Americans will go to the poll and cast their vote for candidates for various positions of local and state government leadership. But unfortunately, the political race revealed a deep division among what is called the “United States.” Not only is there a division between political parties, but there is a division within the parties.
Division can be expected in politics, but when it began infiltrating the church of Jesus Christ, that’s another thing altogether. According to God’s Word, for today, division in the church shows a lack of love. It’s okay to have different opinions, ideologies, and viewpoints as long as they do not divide us. This is true not only concerning politics but church matters as well.
We can disagree, but we must still love each other. Love is the spiritual superglue that holds us together in an unbreakable bond. The Apostle Paul used an example of getting dressed to bring out an important principle. “Above all” means the last piece of clothing we put on. It’s like an outer garment, such as a raincoat. The world cannot see our differences because they are covered by love. So, what are you wearing today?
