Hebrews 6:19 ESV (English Standard Version)

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

Pastor's Commentary

One gifted Christian songwriter illustrates the security believers have in Christ Jesus. The song is “My Soul Has Been Anchored In The LORD." The first line of the lyrics says:

“Though the storms keep on raging in my life. And sometimes it′s hard to tell the night from day. Still, that hope that lies within is reassured.”

These words offer us hope because we all will endure storms in our lifetime as we sail the waters of a fallen world. While the ship is visibly tossed and turned, the unseen anchor keeps the ship from falling apart. Like a natural ship, an anchor provides stability during turbulent times, we can remain secure because our hope is in the LORD. Thus, we can remain steadfast despite the storm with the LORD as our anchor.

Join us on this Women’s Sunday at 10 AM as Bonita Tharpe encourages us to “Stay the Course.” Our day will begin at 8:30 with Faith Development Sunday school as we learn about the "Promise of Obedience." Classes are available for every age group. Looking forward with excitement to seeing you.
