1 Peter 1:6–7 NKJV (New King James Version)
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
Untested faith is unvalidated faith. Therefore, like gold, our Christian faith must be tested to be proven to be genuine. This trying of our faith comes only through trials. Not just one type of trial but “various.” So, we will face physical, emotional, and spiritual testing during our earthly lifetime.
These trials by fire not only validate our faith, but they also perfect our faith. This results in praise, honor, and glory to Jesus. He was tested on all points to identify with us. When we encounter testing, we identify with Him.
Therefore, whatever trial you may be enduring today, you can greatly rejoice, knowing that it will only last a little while. But the glory it will bring to God is unending.
