Ephesians 3:16–17 NLT (New Living Translation)
I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
Pastor's Commentary
How comforting to know that God’s strength resides in us through the presence of His indwelling Holy Spirit. Life can be challenging, especially for those who are getting older. Longevity can be a blessing, but it takes its toll on us physically and mentally. Time has a way of deteriorating our desire and will to serve. But God provides inner strength to continue despite the challenges.
The Apostle Paul prayed for the church he founded in Ephesus. He desired for them to overcome the resistance of demonic opposition designed to cause them to lose faith. Paul reminded them to tap into God’s unlimited resource of inner strength. He is able to keep us spiritually strong, even when we become emotionally weak.
This is my prayer for you today. No matter what mountain you may be facing, trust in God. The roots of your faith will go down deep and keep you from falling.
